1A gibi yüksek akımlarda linear regulator kullanmak bana mantıklı gelmiyor. Ekseri giriş bir 5V adaptörden sağlanığını varsayarsak (en azında bende hep böyle oluyor):
5V - 3,3V = 1,7V => 1,7W @ 1A
Yani 1/3 ısıya dönüşüyor.

Sürekli 1A çeken bir yapı için pcb de ısı üreten bir nokta oluyor haklısınız. Ama kartın normal ihtiyacı 100-200mA ve kısa süreli ~1A ihtyacının olduğu durumlar oluyor. Birde kart üzerinde farklı voltajlarda çalışan birden fazla çevre birimi varsa, tasarım ve maliyet konusunda avantaj sağlıyorlar.
